Resum:
Aquests textos
Abstract:
This paper translates and examines
several texts of medieval English narratives describing encounters with
undeads, those by Geoffrey of Burton, William of Malmesbury, Walter Map
and William of Newburgh. These texts show a combination of religious
elements with features which can be linked to pre-Christian folklore
though it is not possible to assign
orthodox
attitudes solely to an educated elite and superstitious ideas only to an
underclass. Nevertheless,
Christianity finally became physical revenants into
incorporeal ghosts.
